One of the things we take pride in is that our line encompasses all budgets and sizes. At the end of last year we focused all of our energy on creating over-the-top crystal-covered one-of-a-kind designs. While beautiful, we recognize these do not fit into everyone’s show budget. So now, to start out the year, we’re focusing on stocking classic, budget-friendly styles in a range of sizes. Shopping elsewhere you’ll find plenty of options in this price range…each one mass produced and of questionable quality. Or even worse, a knock-off of a legitimate designer’s work.

Here’s the Lisa Nelle difference: We make each and every one of our garments in our studio. Our garments are made in America and made by women, in a safe and ethical work environment with fair wages. We are not outsourcing our work. So what does this mean? It means we have the ability to take our time creating these pieces, which results in an extremely high attention to detail. It also means that each of us is working closely with the garment as it goes through each step of production, so we are intimately involved in the process and can catch and correct any oversights.

The other benefit of making our own garments is that everything you see available for purchase on our website is actually ready to ship. While we can’t exactly compete with Amazon, we do ship really fast, because we don’t want to keep you waiting for your dream jacket! When we finish a new style, it gets photographed in-studio and listed on our website pretty much immediately. We do everything ourselves which means we’re not dependent on anyone else’s schedules, and we can list new items year-round so there’s always something new available. Order something from us, and you’ll have it in your hands within a few days, not a few months.

I’ve touched on this topic before, but as a reminder, buying knock-offs is supporting thieves. Our industry is being flooded with poorly made copies, and the reason is that people are buying them. Most of us western show clothing designers are running very small businesses. If folks continue purchasing knock-offs there won’t be any designers left to steal from! To have your art stolen and shoddily reproduced is bad enough, but to know there’s a market eager and ready to put money in their pockets really adds insult to injury, especially when there are other affordable options available.

2019: The Year in Review (And Holiday Closures)

Merry Christmas, everyone! The holidays have rushed upon us once again and we’re busy packing up all of your orders before taking a much needed year-end vacation.

All orders placed between 12/23/19 to 12/29/19 will ship on 12/30/19. We’re popping in on that Monday after Christmas to get all of your orders out, then we’re putting our pajamas back on and sleeping through 12/31/19 and 1/1/20. We’ll be back in the studio on 1/2/20 refreshed and ready to get the new decade off to a great start!

2019 has been a wonderful year for us. We worked so hard creating one-of-a-kind pieces and really pushing our creativity in the studio with new designs. Below we’ve highlighted some of our favorites from this year.

Can you believe it’s already November? I sure can’t. It’s already time to turn back the clocks! You know what they say, time flies when you’re having fun, and boy have we been having fun around here lately!

You know my favorite thing in the world is making one-of-a-kind designs, and that’s what I’ve been focusing my creative energy on the past few weeks. Here are a few of my favorites:

Bright red domes, edgy hematite crystals and sueded red applique create this bold geometric design. Each piece was placed individually by hand for a truly unique and special style.

Turquoise, Copper and Blue All Day Jacket Size 4X

With a floral motif in turquoise, copper and blue crystals and pearls, this one-of-a-kind style is simply lovely.

Denim Day Shirt and Vest Size Small

Bright elements in teal, copper, royal blue, red, purple and orange embellish this one-of-a-kind set. The back-zip denim print horsemanship shirt can be worn beautifully on its own or together with the coordinating black vest.

Trend Alert: Mix and Match Sets with Removable Fringe

Hello, Spring! The weather is finally warming up and all the rain we’ve had this winter in SoCal means the flowers are blooming and the smog is clearing.

Staying cool is essential as temperatures rise, and we’ve got you covered with our selection of vest sets with our favorite trend: removable fringe.

 

Tribal Copper Bolero Set (M)

This Bolero set is so cool…if we do say so ourselves! Sparkling crystals and edgy geometric shapes along with removable shoulder fringe…what more could you ask for? The tribal patterned undershirt is the perfect complement to this vest, but the shirt and vest can be mixed and matched with anything you already have in your closet for an endless variety of styles. (That’s smart shopping!) The fringe is attached via hidden Velcro at the shoulders. Wear the fringe for extra sparkle and interest, or don’t. It’s up to you!

 

Longhorn Vest and Undershirt Set (S)

This set is so much fun! The bright blue ombré blues and graphic longhorn print are sure to stand out in the ring. And check out the alternating crystals on that fringe! Again, the fringe here is removable by way of Velcro hidden at the shoulders. It’s quick and easy to remove and re-attach.

 

Black Diamond Show Vest Set (M)

Indulge your secret punk side with shining metal spikes and chains! Black diamond crystals and gunmetal studs sparkle throughout the vest and the black and white striped undershirt elevates the sophistication of this look. Unlike the other two fringe sets featured, this fringe is pinned onto the shoulders. It’s easily removed and attached, and because it’s pinned, you can attach it to absolutely anything you have. Attach to any show jacket, or to your little black dress for your hot date, or who knows, maybe add them to your blazer when you walk into work on Monday morning to see what your coworkers say.

There are a lot of choices out there for western attire. While years ago there were only a handful of companies working in the western world, nowadays it seems your options are endless. From simple affordable shirts to highly embellished one-of-a-kind pieces, you’ll have no trouble finding what you’re looking for…thanks to the internet.

So what sets Lisa Nelle apart?

Our garments are not mass produced. We sew and design each and every piece here in our Los Angeles studio. From sourcing our beautiful fabrics, to embellishing, to sewing, we take care every step of the way. You won’t find asymmetry in a print that should be symmetrical. You won’t find messy glue on the fabric. And you certainly won’t find threads flying every which way from our seams. Why? Because our team takes pride in our work; we all have a common goal we work toward every day — making you look your best.

It’s easy to spot a Lisa Nelle in the ring. Lisa’s esthetic is always fresh and modern and completely unique. We love and admire the work of our favorite designers, and are often inspired by what we see. But we NEVER copy other designers. Over the years we’ve had the unfortunate experience of finding garments that are exact copies of our designs. We’ve even found a company copying and pasting our wording from our website! Lately there’s been quite a bit of controversy on social media about companies purchasing knock-offs from manufacturers overseas. We get emails almost every day from these manufacturers, and the garments tend to be low-quality and offered at low prices. For a customer on a budget, the temptation is somewhat understandable…but for a retailer to knowingly purchase a copy is simply unacceptable. We know all too well that terrible feeling of violation when your art is stolen. This is why we feel it’s so important to support designers and artists in all industries.

2019 Trend Alert: Armbands

Hello 2019! We hope your year is off to an amazing start! We’ve got a ton of things on our to-do list this year, and one of them is a renewed focus on one-of-a-kind styles. They’re by far our favorite pieces to design and create, and so far we’ve already finished 6 this year…and we’re barely two weeks in! That’s what a relaxing holiday vacation will do for you.

Ever since we created our first jacket with armbands last year, we fell in love with the look. Armbands are edgy and cool, and add so much sparkle and interest.

We’ve sourced the most unique embellishments for these looks, and we can’t get enough of them!

The holidays seem to approach faster and faster each year, and here we are again less than a week away from Thanksgiving.
This is the time of year we gather with family and friends and reflect with gratitude on all we have to be thankful for.

This year at Lisa Nelle has been one of change and growth.
Back in February, we moved from the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles to our new space in the vibrant community of Koreatown. Moving is never fun, but with it came an opportunity to stretch out into a bigger studio with way more space for new fabrics and our endless supply of crystals. It also meant we had more space to accommodate more people, so we added new members to our team. We simply couldn’t accomplish what we do without the teamwork and camaraderie of this amazing crew. Walking into our spacious studio to smiling faces every day is one of the many things we are grateful for.

We also welcomed a tremendous amount of new customers to the Lisa Nelle family this year, and welcomed back our loyal returning customer base as well.

To those of you who are new here, and to those of you who keep coming back to us year after year, we are immensely grateful for your support. You are truly what keeps us going.

Flattering Fall Fashion

It’s finally starting to feel a little like fall here in Los Angeles! Temperatures are dropping (slightly), there was a chance of rainfall (that never came), and we’re pulling on our sweaters (just kidding).

Well we may not experience the traditional signs of autumn around here, but that doesn’t stop us from feeling the cozy vibes of the season. This week we released several new jackets clearly influenced by an autumnal palette of warm tones.

The Autumn Ombre Western Show Jacket in size 1X is a stunning example of flattering design at its finest. This is one of our most popular styles for good reason. The curving lines create an hourglass shape that’s both slimming and feminine. This jacket is so versatile and covered in sparkle. From bright clear crystals, to hematite and copper, to the shiny ovals, this style catches the light in all the right places. It’s no wonder these fly off the shelves.

This one sold almost immediately after being listed on the website. We love the mix of copper, gold and gray with clear triangle accents.

We also released a new style this week, and we’re loving how it turned out.

The Autumn Western Show Jacket in size M/L combines a gorgeous mix of crisp colors along with bright metallic silver discs, light and dark grays, and sparkling clear crystals. The combination of elements is a little retro and totally fall. This one will definitely stand out across the ring.

Design inspiration can come from anywhere — the rich colors of fall invoke a warm palette of ochre, rust, and reds; the floral patterns of nature inspire intricate feminine lines; and the spotted fur of exotic animals inspire bold printed fabrics. Inspiration for western show clothing also often comes from the world of fashion, with fashion trends making their way into the ring.

How about finding inspiration in your favorite rock star?

This week we had the pleasure of creating a one-of-a-kind jacket for one of our favorite clients. Her request? A silver and black show-stopper with tons of sparkle and red arm bands…à la Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe.

Here’s what we came up with:

The contrast of the silver and black against the bright red of the armbands and collar detail are absolute edgy perfection. This might be the coolest jacket we’ve ever created. And who would’ve thought Nikki Sixx would ever enter our creative minds? We sure didn’t. It’s just another reminder to think outside the box, look at the world around you, and pull inspiration from anything that piques your interest — you never know where it will lead you.

Prints with Personality

If you’ve browsed our shop lately, you’ve probably noticed an influx of new prints added to our line of show shirts. Lisa is having a ton of fun carefully handpicking the best prints to reflect every personality, from chic and sophisticated, to bold and modern.

Our limited edition printed shirts offer a lot of bang for your buck, with bold colors and motifs that stand out across the ring, without the hefty price tag. Many offer a carefully embellished collar for a touch of sparkle, and each and every one is made in our Los Angeles studio by our team of experienced seamstresses.

Here are some of our favorites:

SIMPLY CHIC

These prints showcase classic motifs — arrows and feathers — on a solid background of gorgeous color. The Turquoise Arrows Show Shirt and the Turquoise Feathers Show Shirt are both the most lovely shade of turquoise and pair beautifully with any horse.

BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL

The Painted Cactus Show Shirt is one of our absolute favorites. Blues, greens, purples and marigold blend beautifully to create this bold print. Look closely and you’ll see blue butterflies fluttering throughout the design. Sparkling clear crystals and our signature “L” embellish the collar for just the right amount of sparkle.

FRESH AND MODERN

Our Electric Prism Show Shirt and White and Black Show Shirt both feature strong, energetic geometric lines. These two pair beautifully with our black Sparkling Choker Necklace for added sparkle.

SOPHISTICATED ELEGANCE

These shirts take sophistication to the next level. Say Hello to Color

Happy Friday! Things are heating up here in L.A. which means summer is in full swing. Bright, vibrant colors are a staple of any summer wardrobe, and your show wardrobe should be no different.

You know we love black around here — it’s long been our signature color for its sophisticated and slimming look as well as its ability to go with pretty much anything. But after many requests to shake things up with more color options, this summer we’ve added to our line with three new base colors: Chambray, Mustard, and Sexi Wine. (That’s right folks, we’re spelling Sexi with an i.) These are all the same kind of fabric as our black jackets — a medium to heavy weight stretch knit, with the perfect soft and luxurious feel.

Our Chambray is an absolutely lovely shade of blue, similar to denim with a slight texture.

We LOVE this happy shade of mustard. This color is so much fun. It’s fashion-forward and edgy especially when paired with black. This is sure to stand out in the ring.

Our Sexi Wine is a deep, gorgeous shade of burgundy, flattering and versatile. Added bonus: these are sold with matching pants made from the same fabric, for a perfectly coordinated professional look.

Pants! Pants! Pants!

We’re thrilled to announce that our new VersaLuX* Black Show Pants are now available in sizes XS-5X!

You’ve been asking us for pants made from our jacket fabric, and at long last, we’ve listened. (After all, the customer is always right!) Our fabric is well known for being the most soft, comfortable and luxurious fabric around. It’s a medium/heavy weight structured stretch knit. Wrinkle resistant and easy to care for, these pants offer all day comfort…trust us, you are not gonna want to take these off.

When we launched a smaller run of sizes a few weeks ago, they ALL sold out, like, immediately. We received overwhelmingly positive feedback on the comfort and fit.

One of our customers recently bought two pairs to compare sizes, and this is what she told us: “Your new show pants are fantastic. Both sizes fit me well, so I am keeping them both. A couple of other women at my barn tried them on—you’ll be receiving their orders soon. Finally a show pant that looks great!”

So, we knew we had something good on our hands, and got started on making these in all sizes for you.

We’ve removed the zipper, which means they can be pulled on with no bulk for a flattering and EXTREMELY comfortable fit. You may even feel like you have no pants on at all, that’s how comfortable they are. And yet the style is sharp and professional — high waisted, fitted through the thigh and finished with the perfect boot cut. And don’t forget, these are a perfect match to your Lisa Nelle black jacket. I could go on and on about how great these pants are.

I’m in love. And I know you will be too.
